About ASSEB – Assam State School Education Board
The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) was formed under the Assam State School Education Board Act, 2024, following the historic merger of two major educational bodies — the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
Previously, the Assam HS Final Examination was conducted by AHSEC. However, starting from the 2025 academic year, the responsibility for conducting the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams now lies entirely with ASSEB. This unification marks a major step toward streamlining Assam’s educational administration, bringing secondary and higher secondary education under a single authoritative body for better coordination and efficiency.
